Jitolee Good Friends Foundation (JGFF) is a vibrant, people-centered volunteer-driven non-profit organization founded in 2014. Rooted in the Swahili spirit of “jitolee” – to sacrifice, to serve, to commit: we unite and rally communities and people where everyone, regardless of their means, has the power to uplift one another. What began as a grassroots effort now unites passionate volunteers, friends, and supporters to serve Kenya’s most vulnerable youth and families.
From humble beginnings as a grassroots network, Jitolee has grown into a legally registered, independent, non-profit organization on a mission to drive meaningful, sustainable impact through the power of volunteering and resource mobilization. We champion for inclusion, hope, and co-creation (innovation), propelling marginalized women, youth and children toward brighter and dignified futures.
We believe in local ownership, dignity, and the power of volunteers to catalyze sustainable change. Our programs tackle the challenges that matter most: poverty, education gaps, health barriers, environmental resilience, food security and social justice. Every day, we prove that together, ordinary people can create extraordinary impact. We continuously strengthen and enhance the integral space of volunteers as drivers of sustainable change in our communities.
Jitolee’s foundation embodies the UNs declaration on volunteering and Kenya’s National Volunteerism
Policy which recognizes volunteerism as a key driver for accelerated socio-economic growth, community
cohesion, and youth empowerment. Our volunteers serve as catalysts of change: Mentoring, Teaching,
Mobilizing resources, and Strengthening Community Resilience in ways that Governments alone cannot
achieve.
To mobilize volunteers and resources, foster partnerships to co-create, and scale sustainable community-driven solutions for youth and vulnerable groups, that advance social justice, access to opportunity, and ensure no one is left behind.
A just, resilient, and prosperous society driven by the power of volunteering where everyone has the opportunity and dignity to thrive
To enhance the quality of life for marginalized communities through impactful volunteer-led programs targeting education, health, environment, economic empowerment, and social justice. We aim to directly impact 50,000 beneficiaries by 2030 through innovative, inclusive, and sustainable initiatives aligned with Kenya’s development blueprint and accelerate the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
From humble beginnings to a registered nonprofit, Jitolee’s journey reflects the power of volunteering and partnerships. Each milestone is a step toward dignity, opportunity, and lasting change for communities in Kenya.
